ruby leaves for camp

ruby left for camp orkila for a week on orcas island in the san juan islands this morning. she was excited and ready to go, i was a weeping mess.

midway through the kids' dinner it started to rain, and then hail. then we moved the kids under the awning - it didn't curtail their eating though. as ilana says, "hunger is the best sauce."

the kids picked beans in the garden and then lined up to churn the mint chocolate chip ice cream that john was making.

we met rachel and the kids at the wading pool. we had to exit the pool because there was thunder and the lifeguard made everyone leave the pool.

saturday we brought ruby's new buddy, elsa, and spent the day at peggy's cabin in monroe with tom, peg and luc. the temp hit 90 degrees, and the water was perfect.
